BLOG POST 7: Changes to my study programme

Image
"Changes to my study programme" Hello class, nice to see you one more week, I hope you are all well. As I said in previous posts, I am in my second year of Geography, and the truth is this week's topic is quite interesting, however, I had never thought about it before. Regarding to the infrastructure of the faculty, unfortunately I do not know what to say, because since I entered in 2020,  (due to the pandemic) I have only gone this semester a couple of times to a single subject, in addition to a classroom, only I have occupied the bathrooms. So I have no experience with the faculty :( The subjects, well until now... there have been some more interesting than others, some I enjoy and motivate me day by day to follow, and others became very complicated, however, I think that all are fundamental for geography, for the same, would not make modifications. On the other hand, I consider the academic load excessive, and something that the teachers could take into consideration, ...

BLOG POST 6: Time travel to the future

Image
"The Future" Hello class, how are you?? The truth is that this topic is somewhat difficult for me, but at the same time I like it because there is so much to say. I'm not really a person who thinks a lot about the past or the future, rather I live thinking that what happened is already gone and what comes is a surprise. Studying geography has given me a very broad vision of the planet we inhabit, and how unfortunately we are destroying it day by day, and for this reason it is difficult for me to think of “a future”. Estimates of the effects of climate change (CC) are alarming, and in some cases irreversible, and I honestly don't imagine a future like in the movies at all, I think it is utopian. Furthermore, Chile wouldn't be a rich country with the greatest technologies and advances. If I could travel to the future (to any part of the world) I would see if the effects of CC are reversible, if there is a positive advance, or on the contrary perhaps I find the...

BLOG POST 5: My future job

Image
"My Future Job" Hello class, how was your week? The truth is, I have never thought about a specific job for my future, I think I am a very changeable person , because many things excite me in life, there is so much to do and discover that a specific or permanent job is not my ideal. But there is only one thing that I have clear since I was a child, and I think I have mentioned it in other posts: TRAVEL !! It's definitely one of my biggest wishes, and I want to do it when I have the resources hahaha. (It is expensive) Knowing other landscapes, people with other cultures, trying new foods, is priceless. I really hope, that the geography career which I am studying in my 2nd year, will allow me to have very out-door jobs and get to know Chile completely, in addition to other countries as well. If my salary allows me to support myself, everything will be fine, because I love my career and I feel very excited about what I can become as a professional, that is why money for me t...

BLOG POST 4 : Free Topic

Image
"Rafting" Hi hi everyone , how have you been..? For this week's blog i chosee a very special picture to me that i would like to talk about. This pic is from the summer of 2019, we were in Pucón with my family (and some friends) and we went to the Trancura river to do rafting. I'm especially interested in this photo because we are doing a very beautiful activity that, although I have done it a few times, I would very much like to be able to continue doing it. (If you ever have the opportunity to do rafting, don't hesitate, it's great). I believe that this image represents a lot of what i was before the pandemic, and I hope to return to normal soon and feel outdoors and free to be able to do this and many other activities. I would like to do parasailing the next go. Although the photo does not have a very philosophical meaning in the background, nor is it the most perfect in the world, it is my favorite photo and I chose it because for me it represents fun, happ...

BLOG POST 3: related to your studies...

Image
"Doreen Massey" Hello class... I'm studying geography in my second year, and in this post I would like to tell you about Massey, her contributions to geography and why I admire her. Doreen Barbara Massey (1944 - 2016) was a British social scientist,  activist, and geographer  specializing in : Marxist, feminist and cultural geography, (even she contributed some of the most important authors in Marxist geography). She revolutionized the academic world through his books and essays , full of political commitment, and in some, he takes a feminist perspective to consider power relations. She being the precursor of the term "geometry  power." Although her contributions were many more to geography, and the concepts made by her require further explanation, I will summarize it in that I admire her especially because, the main fields of study in which she specialized were : globalization, regional development uneven, the cities and the reconceptualization of the terminol...

BLOG POST 2: The best concert ever

Image
"Bruno Mars 2017" Hi class..! The truth is that I have been to few concerts, but without a doubt, the best of all is by my favorite artist Bruno Mars, this was in 2017 at the Estadio Nacional de Chile. Bruno Mars, is an American singer and songwriter from Honolulu, Hawaii. His musical genres include: R&B, funk and pop. And to date he has 3 albums. Despite having gone alone, the atmosphere inside the stadium felt very pleasant, supportive, and comfortable, there were many people who helped me and accompanied me when I needed it, and shared food and water with me. Finally, when it was time for the concert and I saw Bruno Mars, for the first time, I cried for the emotion and enjoyed the concert very much. (also yelled too much). to this day is one of the best days of my life <3! "Bruno Mars at the Estadio Nacional de Chile." "Photo taken by me".

BLOG POST 1: A country you would like to visit

Image
" Italy"  Hi class... The truth is, it's very difficult to me choose only one country that I would like to visit, because I want to visit as many as possible. Being able to travel and get to know different countries and cultures, is the only thing that I have been clear about in my life, and even on a professional level I hope that the geography carrer allows me to do so.  However, a country that I have always wanted to visit as a child is Italy, due to many reasons, but mainly because of its gastronomy, (I adore pasta), its architecture, its landscapes, and culture in general, it's a very enriching country and you can get many experiences. If I went to Italy I would like to visit: The colosseum  The Grand Canal in Venice The vestiges of Pompeii and the Pisa tower Also i want to Visit famous museums, and taste a lot of typical dishes. finally if it is possible, i would like to visit cities like Genoa, Florence, Naples and Milan. And of course, if I had the opportun...
